Routed on postcode, not on region

Because the boundaries that matter in this trade are the network operators, and they do not follow the regions anyone thinks in.

Great Britain, fourteen licence areas

Every homeowner who fits one of these has to notify the operator that owns the wires in their street, within 28 days. Knowing which one is a small thing you can do for them that nobody else will.

Scotland: Two operators rather than one, split north and south: Scottish Hydro-Electric Power Distribution above, SP Distribution below.
The North West: Split in two. Merseyside and Cheshire go to SP Manweb with North Wales; the rest of the region is Electricity North West.
The South East: Divided between South Eastern Power Networks and Southern Electric Power Distribution.
Northern Ireland: Outside the Great Britain system entirely. NIE Networks runs it under G98/NI, and nobody has yet settled where plug-in solar stands there.

No postcode lookup goes out from us until every one of these areas has been put through the operator's own checker. Ask the operator in the meantime.

Territory is open

The network is new, so no area is spoken for. That will not stay true, and the areas that go first will be the ones where somebody asked early.

Tell us the postcode prefixes you actually cover rather than a county. A trade contact who says they cover the South East and means four postcode areas is no use to a homeowner in the fifth.
